How it all started...
Pacific Christian Center has been a vital part of ministry to the Central Coast since it was established in 1937 by Pastor Charles Dobbins. As the church grew, we located four times before acquiring 12.5 acres of premium land and building a brand new 52,000 square foot facility at 3435 Santa Maria Way. It took fourteen months to transform the empty hillside into the beautiful facilities that are now the home of Pacific Christian Center, Pacific Christian Elementary and Junior High School, and Pacific Christian Preschool.
Pastor Robert Palmer led the initiative to buy the property, procure funding, pland the buildings and layout, and saw it to it's completion. It has continued to be developed in the following years by Pastors Ben Ellsworth, Rick Bloom and Loren Hicks.
Pacific Christian Preschool has served the community of Santa Maria since 1966. In response to its overwhelming impact on the community, Pacific Christian School began in 1979.

Expanding the vision...
Throughout the years, the church has grown and adapted to address the needs of a changing community. From its inception, the vision of the church has been to reach people with the life giving message of Jesus Christ that they might become fully devoted followers of Christ.
The church takes seriously Jesus' two great commandments. The Great Commission o "to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19-20) and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:36-39).

Where we are headed...
Our primary mission is not growing a great organization, but rather helping people to know and love the God who already loves them perfectly. In Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus gives us the direction we need to move forward in all parts of ministry. Jesus tells us to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’" With this in mind, we have a laser-like focus on ensuring that God’s message of salvation is shared and we equip others to:
Connect: We will be a church that nurtures authentic relationships and embraces all people with the love of Christ.
Grow: We will be a church that is intentional about spiritual growth and provides opportunities for everyone to join life groups.
Serve: We will be a church that helps people discover their God-given design and trains and releases them for ministry.
Go: We will be a church that believes every person matters to God. We will equip and empower people to share their faith without fear.
Worship: We will be a church that experiences the presence of God as we respond through individual and collective worship.
